The Los Angeles Gender Center provides an environment of safety, support, and understanding for exploring gender and sexuality. We are eight experienced therapists who specialize in gender identity, transgender, gender expression, sexual orientation, sexuality, relationships, and intimacy. We assist adults, adolescents, children, and their families with facing the challenges and embracing the enrichment of exploring gender and sexuality.
In 1992, Marie Keller and her colleagues were inspired to found the Los Angeles Gender Center in response to a great need that existed in LA for culturally sensitive counseling for the transgender community. Today more services are available for people with diverse genders and sexualities. Likewise, at LAGC we continue to grow and develop programs, such as the creation of the Child and Adolescent Support Team in 2007.
People come to the Los Angeles Gender Center to achieve peace with themselves, or to better understand and support their loved ones. They continue to discover that LA’s first center for the exploration of gender and sexuality has the experience, expertise, and understanding they need.
With over 20 years of experience working with gender diverse people, LAGC and its therapists are experts in their field and are often called upon to offer trainings and continuing education for professionals and institutions – schools, universities, shelters, hospitals and counseling centers.
We are here to help and support, to comfort and to guide, to educate and to advocate, or just to sit quietly and listen. When you feel the time is right, we will be here. In reading this, you have already taken the first step. We want to hear from you and welcome your phone call at (310) 475-8880, or email to staff@lagendercenter.com.
